NextGen Lead - UCC Medfield (MA)
Job Description:
UCC Medfield — a community-centered church in the heart of Medfield, Massachusetts — is seeking a relational, Jesus-loving leader to step into the role of NextGen Lead.
This is more than a job — it’s a calling to walk with kids, youth, and families as they discover a faith that sticks, grow in love, and become part of something bigger than themselves.
We’re a church rooted in a clear mission: To Love Like Jesus by pursuing God, building community, and restoring justice.
We may not be big or flashy, but we are deeply grounded and fully committed to investing in the next generation. Kids and youth here already show joy, curiosity, and connection — we’re seeing God move. Now, we’re ready for the right leader to come alongside what God is already doing and help shape what’s next.
Who You Are
You’re a Jesus enthusiast — so full of love for Christ that kids and students are drawn to know more. You’re the kind of leader who:
Can’t help but connect with and inspire kids of all ages
Builds real, meaningful relationships with students, parents, and volunteers
Knows how to curate or create curriculum that brings Scripture to life in practical, age-appropriate ways
Cares deeply about the local church and its mission in the community
Has both vision for what could be and the hands-on spirit to make it happen
Communicates clearly, leads graciously, and organizes with purpose
Believes worship, service, and joy belong in every phase of life
What You’ll Do
This ministry role stretches from birth through high school. Your leadership will focus on helping young people experience the love of Jesus and grow into resilient, active disciples. You will:
Develop and lead kids and youth ministry experiences (birth through high school) in alignment with our mission and values
Create or curate faith-based content that builds a strong biblical foundation and invites real-life transformation
Foster belonging and spiritual growth, both in age-specific settings and broader church life
Build relationships with students and families, establishing rhythms of communication and care
Equip and support volunteers through training, resources, and encouragement
Partner with the Lead Pastor and lay leaders to reimagine and shape NextGen ministry for long-term impact
Create on-ramps for families to engage in faith together — not just drop-off ministry
Integrate kids and youth into worship and church-wide opportunities for service and growth
Celebrate joy, spark curiosity, and make space for real questions
What We’re Hoping For
We’re praying for a leader who is:
So in love with Jesus that it’s contagious
Energized by relationships and community connection
Grounded in Scripture and skilled in making it accessible
Experienced (ideally 5–7 years) in ministry with kids, youth, or families
Capable of managing programs, leading teams, and adapting with grace
A strong communicator — with kids, parents, and the church at large
Well-organized, detail-oriented, and team-minded
Theologically thoughtful — seminary background is a bonus, but not required
Comfortable with Google Suite, a CRM system, and other relevant technologies
How We Lead
At UCC Medfield, we believe leadership begins with listening — to God, to one another, and to our community.
We practice discernment as a spiritual rhythm, not just a decision-making tool. That means we take time to pray, reflect, and seek God’s guidance together. As our NextGen Lead, you won’t be expected to have all the answers — but we will look to you to listen well, lead with humility, and help others recognize the movement of God in the lives of our kids and youth.
If you’re drawn to leading through relationship, reflection, and faith in action, you’ll feel right at home here.
What We Offer
A church deeply committed to its mission and to the next generation
Strong lay leadership, financial stability, and a clear sense of purpose
Supportive teammates and volunteers who are ready to partner and grow
Competitive compensation package
Flexibility and freedom to shape ministry strategy with creativity and intention
