Theologians and pastors Drew G. I. Hart and Steve Watson both have new books out exploring more radical, wholesome, inclusive, just Christian faith. Dr. Hart's work explores the traditions of Black and Anabaptist Christian communities, critiquing their shortfalls while exploring how together they guide us toward liberating, peacemaking practices of following Jesus in the aftermath of Christendom and the Doctrine of Discovery.

Dr. Watson's work draws together the wisdom and insights of open, relational, and postcolonial theologians, exploring not only how they help us toward larger, freer, more loving expressions of Christian faith.

Both theologians and both books provide intellectual, spiritual, and practical guidance toward decolonizing our faith and growing theologies, witness, and churches that are faithful, just, and beautiful.

About the Speakers

Rev. Dr. Drew G. I. Hart is an associate professor of theology at Messiah University, where he directed the Thriving Together: Congregations for Racial Justice program in central PA for 5 years. His research and scholarship sit at the intersection of Black liberation theology, Anabaptism, anti-Christendom, and decolonial ecclesiology and ethics. He co-hosts Inverse Podcast with Australian pastor and peace activist Jarrod McKenna and is the author of Trouble I've Seen: Changing the Way the Church Views Racism (2016), Who Will Be A Witness?: Igniting Activism for God's Justice, Love, and Deliverance (2020), and co-edited Reparations and the Theological Disciplines: Prophetic Voices for Remembrance, Reckoning, and Repair (Nov. 2023). His newest book is Making It Plain: Why We Need Anabaptism and the Black Church (September, 2025), where he grapples with the meaning of radical discipleship to Jesus in the aftermath of Christendom and Colonial Conquest. Drew speaks regularly at colleges, conferences, and community groups across the United States and beyond and has received the bcmPEACE Peacemaker Award (2017), the W.E.B. Du Bois Award (2019), the Harambee Award (2023), and the Revelation 7:9 Award (2025) in recognition of his local justice work. He lives in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, with Renee and their three boys.

Steve Watson has spent his career in urban public education and Christian pastoral ministry. For the past 13 years, he has been the senior pastor of Reservoir Church, a multi-racial, post-evangelical church in Greater Boston. Steve is also active as a leader in interfaith community organizing for public justice and as a singer of Renaissance music. He has a B.A. in music from Brandeis University, a Masters in Education from UMASS-Boston, and a Doctorate in Theology and Ministry from Northwind Seminary. His recently published book All Flesh Shalom explores how open and relational and postcolonial theologies can facilitate larger, freer, more loving readings of the good news of Jesus. Keri Ladouceur is the co-founder and director of the Post Evangelical Collective. An incessantly curious question asker and bridge-building peacemaker, she believes the fullness of the gospel is liberative good news for all of creation and longs to cultivate new faith spaces of mutuality and flourishing for all people.

Keri is the founder of New Ground Network, where she co-conspires with pastors, denominations, and organizational leaders to clarify and align around their purpose. One of her favorite roles is organizational coach, where she is part dreamer, instigator, activator, and team counselor. She has an MA in New Testament from Northern Seminary, and her imagination for the Beloved Community has been primarily shaped by her native heritage and liberation thinkers and theologians.

She dreams of the Church being a life-giving community that activates the people of God to join Christ in the redemption and restoration of all things.
